Unless you go down the disposable route it is true that you will initially have to fork out for a starter kit. Once you have done this though you can expect to make big savings over time. For the comparison below I have assumed that the average smoker has 14 cigarettes a day and buys them in packs of 20 at £5.50 a pack. For the electronic cigarette calculations I have included all postage costs and assumed that you would order cartridge packs one at a time. What would you do with the extra money - A weekend away?
